Carrot Award afternoon

2FD had a lovely afternoon yesterday to celebrate winning the carrot competition. We played lots of party games, danced till we dropped (we are very competitive musical bumps players!) and we even had time to decorate some Easter cards.

We hope you all have a lovely Easter Break and have a much needed rest!

Proud Moment

What a wonderful message for both Mrs Desborough and I to see when we finished our planning session on Tuesday afternoon. We know how much the children in 2FD enjoy the lessons during our PPA time and we are so proud of their effort and behaviour when working with other teachers.

You are all super stars….and excellent at Mandarin it seems!! Well done 2FD!

What does it weigh?

We have now started a new unit of work in our Maths lessons on weight!

This week we used the balance scales and counters and cubes to compare the weights of different items in the classroom. We really enjoyed our practical lesson and it was a great chance for some teamwork. Several children received one of our new learning behaviour stickers for their hard work in this fun lesson!

Science Week

What a wonderful Science Week we have had!

In our Science lessons this week we have been learning all about Growth and we have planned and carried out our very own experiment to investigate the impact of sunlight of the growth of cress.

Lots of children in 2FD have also been Super Scientists at home and have created wonderful investigations of their own for the Science Competiton. Check out our amazing entries…

3D shapes

Today we explored 3D shapes. 2FD enjoyed handling the shapes and counting their faces. They particularly enjoyed playing the ‘guess the shape’ games from a description of the shape’s faces hidden in a bag and the online ‘shifting shapes’ game in which a spotlight in shone on parts of the shape. You can play the online game at home using this link: https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/shiftingShapes/index.html

We also used our team-working skills to match shapes to their names.

World Book Day

We had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. We came dressed as adjectives (or book characters with adjectives to describe them). We took part in lots of activities including designing our own book covers and reading the new Rocket Rules book. Thank you to Miss Rolison for doing a class swap and reading to us. Don’t forget to use your book voucher!

2D Shape activities

In our Maths lessons this week we have been learning how to classify 2d shapes using the properties of their sides or vertices.

On Wednesday we had a really fun Maths lesson where we completed lots of shape activities including drawing 2d shapes on dotted paper, classifying shapes using Venn diagrams, drawing shapes on the Geoboard app on the Ipads and making shapes using pegboards and elastic bands.

Which was your favourite activity?

Seaside Souvenir

We have now completed our art work based on human and physical features of the sea and the very talented Mrs Parker has sewn all of our prints together to make a class collage to keep!

Can you spot your print?
